“I got in touch with the team at Care24 after becoming concerned about my mam’s wellbeing and safety at home. She had a fall earlier in the year and had an injury which made it difficult to make about freely and I started to worry if something similar might happen again. I visit my mam often but I can’t be there all the time, and it’s in the times that I’m not there I can’t help but think ‘is she ok?’.

We had a chat with mam about considering moving to a care home where should could get the support she would need but it just wasn’t something she wanted to do. She’s always been quite active and she’s very proud of her house and her independence. After doing some more research to see what other options there were we can across Care24.

We spoke with their care team who were amazing - they offered us plenty of guidance and advice and we’re totally understanding of our situation. What was unique about them was that they offered a digital service called remote assistance. Using a digital hub and some sensors, they are able to monitor my mam’s home to make sure all is as it should be. Our concern about this however was ‘is it intrusive? will mam feel like someone is watching all the time?’

The care specialist ensured us that the technology was really discreet and after a couple of days it would feel like it wasn’t even there. We discussed this with mam and she was apprehensive but once we expressed our concerns for her wellbeing she decided to give it a go - and it’s been amazing. It was so simple to get set up and now we have that little bit of peace of mind that all is ok when we can’t be there.

We don’t have to ‘check in’ with her for the sake of it and that’s helped to improve the quality of our time together too. They also offer further services should we need them including access to carers and a range of healthcare specialists.
